WHAT IS A CONCRETE TILT-UP?
Construction methods and practices are always changing and improving. As a leading general contractor in Utah, Center Point Construction continues to study and implement new practices to improve turnaround times, become more cost-effective, and improve the quality of the structure. One construction method we have used frequently in the past few years is tilt-up construction.
What is tilt-up construction?
Tilt-up construction involves pouring concrete panels directly at the jobsite that become the building's exterior walls. Wooden panels form the poured concrete with rebar to give added strength and durability. When the walls are ready, they are then raised into position vertically and placed on foundational footings. This practice is commonly used for larger facilities, such as warehouses. The concrete tilt-up is typically more time effective than wood-frame construction and more cost effective than steel-beam construction. The exterior walls also serve as the load-bearing walls, so interior walls are unnecessary to the structural integrity of the building - meaning you can have very open areas for warehouse storage, indoor sports fields, etc. The concrete exterior is also very effective at regulating the interior temperature and soundproofing the facility.
Our tilt-up experience
Center Point Construction has impressive experience with building using concrete tilt-ups, such as the Utah Athletic Center in North Salt Lake.
